If the date on the front page suggests an update not mentioned here, it may be an odd new result in, say, the Yateley Manor; or a result in the ECF Counties National Stage which does not involve SCCU people.   • The SCCU Executive Committee met on schedule 30.3.12. Report shortly, but you may like to note that the SCCU Championship 2012-13 has been awarded to the Hastings International 2012-13, and BCQ places to the London Classic and the Weald Congress.
  • Which means we have another BCQ place to give. We ran out of applicants. Further applications are now invited. Applicants should be, or should be prepared to become, Members (either County or non-County) of the SCCU. Contact the SCCU Secretary by the end of April 2012.
  • ECF-Stage pairings 2012. We find, on consulting the ECF website, that the pairings in a couple of places are not what we expected.
  • We are asked to say that David Welch, ECF Chief Arbiter, will be running a training course for prospective ECF Arbiters on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May at Wellington College, Crowthorne. The weekend will finish with the Arbiters' Examination, which lasts two and a half hours. For further information contact David on 0151 733 1866.

The list will always be available from the Fixtures and League tables pages, and from the County results pages (except Open).
  • British Championship 2012: qualifying place. The SCCU is pleased to offer a qualifying place which has unexpectedly become available. It can go to any congress in the SCCU area which is run by an SCCU member organisation, or which agrees to take out SCCU membership. (Non-County membership is open to independent congresses.)   • Yes, the ECF had a Council meeting today. Game Fee goes up from 54p to 58p though the Board did not recommend change, and they voted - in principle - for a Membership-only structure rather than a simplification of the hybrid one we've got now.   • Applications are invited from congresses wishing to host the SCCU Individual Championship 2011-12 or to offer a British Championship qualifying place 2012. The SCCU has four BCQ places in its gift, one of which goes to the congress that hosts the Union Championship. Applications to the SCCU Secretary Richard Haddrell rjh@sccu.ndo.co.uk, to arrive not later than the Executive Committee meeting of 8th April 2011. Earlier will be helpful.
